Reception

 

Welcome to our Reception class, in Reception we work extremely hard to embed positive attitudes towards school and learning. In addition to setting the expectations for children’s behaviour and building sound understanding of key concepts as reading, writing and numbers. As a parent, you are your child’s first educator, and your home is their first learning environment. This year firm foundations are laid to support each individual in their academic journey ahead.

Throughout this year children will be learning through play and the objectives we support the children in learning are based on our curriculum called the Development Matters.

Phonics

The following sound mats will show you the sounds we will be teaching children throughout the year in Phases 2 and 3 of Letter and Sounds.

Outdoor Learning

Outdoor learning in Reception has equal value to indoor learning, it supports the development of healthy and active lifestyles as well as promoting a sense of confidence and well-being. Learning outside supports our children in turn taking, negotiating, co-operation, freedom and movement. At Bungay our children have supervised opportunities to experience new challenges, take risks, solve problems and explore the world around them through learning outside. Children will be learning outside in all weathers so please ensure that all children have the appropriate clothing and footwear to be in this unique space.

PE

Reception class do P.E. on Mondays.  We ask that the children arrive in their P.E. kit and remain in it all day.
