At Bungay Primary School Pastoral Care is very important. We recognise that all aspects of the child’s life impacts on their ability to learn. Therefore we work very hard to provide nurturing pupil centred support to maximise their ability, progress and development.
Pastoral care focuses on supporting the children and developing their social and emotional skills to help them progress to the next level of their learning. Working closely with the all the staff to promote positive behaviour and overcome any potential barriers to learning, attendance and participation within the school.
Working across the whole school, with small groups as well as on a one to one basis is a key part of the role. Ensuring that the children always know they have someone to talk to in addition to their teachers. Being present at play times and lunch times enables the team to promote positive interactions and resolve any issues promptly.
We underpin the delivery of effective ‘Personal Social Health Education’ (PSHE) sessions across the school to grow children’s confidence and enhance the relationships with their peers and further their ‘Social Emotional Aspects of Learning’ (SEAL).
Being accessible to both children and parents in order to provide a cohesive aspect to our community underpins our role. In order to support families we provide Parent Support and work closely with outside agencies to reinforce this if needed.
