Miss Stone

Welcome to the Year 2 class page! I am Miss Stone and I am excited to be sharing all things Year 2 with you all.

In our class we are lucky enough to be supported by three amazing adults. Mrs White is our experienced TA, who will be working with us every morning during our maths learning and guided activities. We are also lucky enough to be supported by Miss Green, who is currently training to be a teacher herself! In the afternoon, Mrs Shadwell will be completing interventions with our children.

Our Physical Education sessions will be taking place on a Monday afternoon this term. Our PE sessions will be both indoors and outdoors, and will be taken by Mr S. Please make sure that your child brings in their PE kit on a Monday morning with both their indoor and outdoor clothes, as we will never know if we will be inside or outside until the day. We do have other PE slots throughout the week, so it is always best to be prepared!

Home learning, including spellings, will be sent home with your child every Friday and is due back in school on the following Wednesday. On Friday, the children will be tested on their weekly spellings. Please make sure your child practises both of these to ensure that they are improving each and every week. The children will also be tested daily on their number bonds and times tables.

Throughout the year we have a range of exciting topics that will help us to develop our understanding of the world around us. This term we will be starting both a history and a science topic. Our history topic takes us back to 1666, where we will be learning about the causes and effects of the Great Fire of London. We will then look at fires within our local region as a comparison. Our science topic, which runs alongside our history learning, is all about everyday materials. We will be looking at how to group different materials, as well as learning about their suitability for different uses.

If you are ever worried or have any questions feel free to see me before or after school. If I am not available, you could always talk to Mrs White, Miss Green or book an appointment with the office. We are always available to support you and your child’s needs.

Miss Stone, Miss Green and Mrs White.
