Year 6 (Olympians- Rick R)

Welcome to the Nelson Mandela class page. My name is Mrs P El-Shunnar and I have the exciting challenge of guiding year 6 through their final journey at Bungay Primary.

Our main support in class this year will be provided by Mrs H Mackender. Mr D Cable, Miss V Bennison, Miss C Shimmen, Mrs D Shadwell and Mrs L Reed will be working with us at various times during the week. We are also very lucky to have our Deputy headteacher, Miss A Chambers, teaching on a Thursday and Friday morning. As you know year 6 is an extremely important year and we have ensured that your children have the right support to help them to be successful in their exams and throughout their final primary school year.

Mr Cable will be taking the year 6 PE afternoon on a Friday, so please ensure your child has the correct PE kit in school.

A home learning book and reading record have been given to each member of the class. We expect to see these in school weekly to monitor progress of projects and home reading. Spellings will be assessed weekly as part of dictation sessions. Individual project deadlines will vary depending on the complexity of the project so please check home learning books weekly.

In year 6 we are the role models for the rest of our school. Younger pupils will look to us to understand how they should behave and what they should aspire to. Expectations are therefore very high in all aspects of school life – conduct, presentation and work ethic.

Our topic based learning this half term is based on the scientific enquiry of evolution and inheritance.
