We are committed to safeguarding and meeting the needs of all of our children at Bungay Primary School.
The wellbeing of all our children and school staff is our highest priority. It is important that all adults in school know what to do if they have any concerns about a child and avoid any situation that may put a child or themselves at risk. You may be approached by a child who wants to disclose something to you about an incident or something that has happened to them. Children may present with marks or bruises or present with conditions such as hunger or lacking personal hygiene. You may notice changes in behaviour. Changes may not necessarily indicate the child is suffering abuse or neglect but safeguarding is everyone's responsiblity.
Recording information
Any concerns should be reported to the Designated Safeguarding Lead at the earliest opportunity. Information should be factual and not that of your own opinion. It should also include the following:
The nature of your concern
Evidence that raised your concern
What was said (word for word) by the child
Your actions or reply.
It is not your responsibility to investigate the concern, all information must be passed to the Designated Safeguarding Lead/Alternate Designated Person. If you have a concern that you consider vague or unclear, please discuss this with a member of the Safeguarding team also.
All concerns must be passed onto a DSL at the earliest opportunity as the information may be a small piece in a large picture.
Everyone has a responsibility to make sure that children within Bungay Primary School are safe as ‘Every Child Matters’. Please report anything that gives you a cause for concern. Please do not assume someone else will report it. Nothing is too minor to report.
You can view our school's safeguarding policy on our policies page here.
